Lifestyle Medicine Retreat

Join us at our Lifestyle Medicine Immersion Retreat to kickstart your healthy lifestyle change. After four years in Anglesea, Victoria, our immersion is now at the Yarra Valley Living Centre in Yarra Junction, Victoria. The program runs for a full week – Sunday to Sunday – and includes material covering all the domains of lifestyle medicine.

Enjoy delicious whole food plant-based meals plus cooking demonstrations, yoga, meditation, films and benefit from the educational lectures by experts in plant-based nutrition and lifestyle medicine Dr Malcolm Mackay (General Practitioner), Jenny Cameron (Nutritionist & Wellness Coach) and Dr Peter Johnston (Dietitian).

This immersion is perfect for people who want to achieve optimal health and wellbeing through a healthy lifestyle. If you are suffering from a chronic disease you can make significant lifestyle changes with the reassurance of medical supervision at hand. If you are already living a healthy lifestyle we will help you tweak it to achieve optimal health and have the best chance of preventing heart disease, diabetes, cancer and autoimmune diseases. The program content will be based around the lifestyle medicine domains and will be presented by team members with expertise in each area. Nutrition is the keystone of healthy lifestyle and will therefore be given the most time.

Nutrition

Principles of optimal nutrition centred on a whole food, plant based diet. How to lose weight without portion control. How to create tasty, simple, fast and healthy food. Strategies for eating out and food in a social context. Strategies for staying on track.

Physical activity

Principles of exercising for health. Developing a personalised exercise plan.

Sleep

The science of sleep and strategies to improve your sleep.

Stress management

Techniques and strategies to reduce your stress levels, including gentle yoga classes, mindfulness, and meditation.

Substance use

The psychology of addictive behaviours including ‘food addiction’ and strategies to stay on track.

Social connectedness

The group dynamic is a key feature of successful lifestyle programs.
