This program will give you the knowledge and skills required to restore and maintain your health and vitality. Whether you are all in on our healthy living plan or just making modest changes, we will support you and respect your personal lifestyle choices.

The program is based on lifestyle medicine principles, prescribing healthy behaviours across the domains of nutrition, activity, sleep, stress management, substance use and social connectedness. Lifestyle medicine is a branch of evidence-based medicine and supports rather than replaces conventional treatments such as medications. However, lifestyle medicine often has such a powerful therapeutic effect that your doctor may need to reduce or cease some of your medications.

This program will help you cut through the hype and confusion to give you a simple, yet powerful, nutrition and lifestyle solution. We will work with you and your health care team to make the lifestyle changes that are right for you.

Program content

The program content will be based around the lifestyle medicine domains and will be presented by team members with expertise in each area. Nutrition is the keystone of healthy lifestyle and will therefore be given the most time.

Nutrition

Principles of optimal nutrition centred on a whole food, plant based diet. How to lose weight without portion control. How to create tasty, simple, fast and healthy food. Strategies for eating out and food in a social context. Strategies for staying on track.

Exercise

Principles of exercising for health. Developing a personalised exercise plan.

Sleep

The science of sleep and strategies to improve your sleep.

Stress

Techniques and strategies to reduce your stress levels, including gentle yoga classes, mindfulness, and meditation.

Substance use

The psychology of addictive behaviours including ‘food addiction’ and strategies to stay on track.

Social connectedness

The group dynamic is a key feature of successful lifestyle programs.

Program structure

Two intensive weekends – Saturday and Sunday afternoon 12:30pm to 5:00pm followed by:

 

  • 9 weeks of Wednesday evening webinars 7:30pm to 9:00pm
  • Group meet-up webinars for a further 3 months

Included in the price are all education sessions, a printed manual with key resources and information for getting started, recipes and colour photos, additional support via emails and a Facebook group, and 3 months of group support webinars. Individual sessions with our personal trainer and consultations our facilitators are available at an additional cost. We plan to offer this as an in-person program in 2022 in the Melbourne area.
